TEACHING AND LEARNING IN A DIVERSE SOCIETY
Educators’ voices: reflect, explore, and connect

Posted November 4, 2007
Bienvenidas/os

Being a reflective and critical educator engaged in the process of teaching/ learning in specific institutions demands different interrelated dimensions. Being aware and being able to negotiate a number of external control that our jobs demand are two those of dimensions.

Importantly, as we interact with our newer students, groups, and colleagues, we enter spaces to stress some of our ideologies on the interrelated the teaching/learning process for all those involved.

In our class, future educators/teachers, have explored how readings build up teacher professional identities, in which different variables such as philosophical reactions to skill-based socialization to become a teacher in the U.S. are considered.

In this spirit, our colegas have also visited classrooms where they observed mentoring teachers. This fieldwork has been important for our colegas to make connections between the assigned readings and the teaching/learning process with real students and teachers in San Antonio, Texas.

To what extent do the readings reflect this process among students and teachers? This reflective question has been a constant tool to our discussions during the semester.

In this blog, all of our colegas, will post a final reflection on their fieldwork and ways this experience is connected with the assigned readings. For privacy purposes, names of institutions, and people referred as part of students’ fieldwork and referred in students’ final project, will not be revealed/posted.

We hope that these contributions make us reflect and act upon the dialectical process of teaching and learning wherever we work as teachers.

Students will post their reflections using their NAME and CONTENT area to introduce their work.

You can comment on any posting, and probably continue reflecting and acting on dialectical nature of the teaching/learning process.
